Changing lives one bike at a time!
How to Request a Bike
Please remember we are a needs based organization giving away bikes to boys and girls, and some adults, who would otherwise not have the means of owning a bike.
To make a request, complete the Bikes Request Form. Requests will be handled in the order they are received. When a bicycle that fits your specifications is available, we will contact you and arrangements can be made to pick it up at The Bikes for Kids Wheelhouse.
It is important to note that a new helmet is provided with every bike leaving our Wheelhouse.
If you are requesting a large amount of bicycles, please be specific including the organization you represent and the reason for the large request.
Bikes for Kids has supplied bikes internationally through other groups, but is not in the position to help with shipping.
If you have any questions, please call The Wheelhouse at 860-388-BIKE (2453) to speak with a volunteer.

LIABILITY WAIVER, RELEASE, and DONATION ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Bikes For Kids, Inc. (“Bikes for Kids”) is a nonprofit organization that refurbishes donated used bicycles and provides them for children and individuals in need free of charge as a charitable gift. By requesting or accepting a bicycle from Bikes for Kids, Inc., you acknowledge and agree to the following:
1. Recipient
As used in this Liability Waiver and Release, “Recipient” means (a) the parent of the person(s)
to whom a bicycle is provided, where such person is under the age of 18, (b) the legal guardian
of the person to whom a bicycle is provided, and (c) the person to whom a bicycle is provided
where such person is not a minor or under a guardianship. Such parent or legal guardian
acknowledges that he or she accepts full responsibility on behalf of the minor or person under
guardianship.
2. Condition of Bicycle
All bicycles provided by Bikes For Kids are donated used bicycles and are provided “AS IS” and
“WITH ALL FAULTS.” While Bikes For Kids makes reasonable efforts to inspect and refurbish
bicycles to generally accepted safety standards at the time the bike is provided, Bikes For Kids
makes no representations, warranties, or guarantees, express or implied, regarding the
condition,
safety, durability, reliability, or fitness of any bicycle for any particular person or purpose.
3. Donations
Any bicycle is provided to the Recipient free of charge solely as a charitable gift, and in no
way as a commercial sale. In some cases, adult recipients may be invited to make a donation to
help support the charitable activities of Bikes for Kids. Any such donation is voluntary, and
does not constitute payment (partial or otherwise) for, or purchase of, the bicycle.
4. Assumption of Risk
The Recipient understands that riding and operating a bicycle involves inherent risks (including
but not limited to falls, collisions, mechanical failure, road hazards, or negligent acts of
others) that may result in serious bodily injury, property damage, or death. The Recipient
knowingly and voluntarily assumes all risks, both known and unknown, associated with the
possession, operation, maintenance, other use, and transfer of the bicycle.
5. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Recipient releases, waives, and discharges Bikes For
Kids and its directors, officers, volunteers, employees, donors, sponsors, partners and
affiliates (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, causes of
action, damages, losses, or liabilities of any kind, whether arising from negligence or
otherwise, that arise out of or relate in any way to the possession, operation, maintenance,
other use, and transfer of the bicycle.
6. Indemnification
The Recipient agrees to indemnify, defend, hold harmless, and reimburse each of the Released
Parties from, against, and for any and all claims, demands, lawsuits, damages, losses, costs,
expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) and liabilities of any kind arising out of or
related to the possession, operation, maintenance, other use, and transfer of the bicycle.
7. Responsibility for Inspection and Maintenance
After receiving the bicycle, the Recipient assumes full responsibility for inspecting,
maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the safe operation and other use of the bicycle, and for
ensuring that appropriate safety equipment, including any helmet or lights provided by Bikes for
Kids, are used appropriately.
8. Title and captions
The titles and captions in this document are provided for convenience and reference purposes
only, and shall not affect the construction or interpretation of this document.
9. Governing Law
This agreement shall be governed by the law of the State of Connecticut, without regard to
conflict of law principles.
10. Severability
If any provision of this agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of
competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect to the
greatest extent possible.
